"Follow Us Monday Morning" Question of the week:

Do you have any holiday traditions that are very specific to you family or your family's culture/heritage?
No, not really. I wish I did have a specific holiday tradition! We don't have a specific heritage either...I'm sure my boyfriend's family has something specific they like to do..they're German.

I know, my answer is kinda lame :/ lol

But anywho...go link up and make some new friends here!!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts #12: Easy Chrismas Decor

Craft #12: Easy Christmas Decoration; Painted Words

Absolutely THE easiet thing to do!!

1. Decide what word you would like to display
2. Buy wooden letters at craft store (or walmart)
3. Paint them whatever color you would like

DONE!

I like the word JOY...so I bought J, O, and Y :)

Next I painted them fire engine red using acrylic paint.

After they dried, I sprayed them with red glitter for a pretty shimmer :)

So pretty!

That's it!

And here they are, above my doorway...before I added the berries.

...and with the berries...better.

Now my finished product. I love my simple decorations :)

P.S. If you like that Santa photo, you can get it here!

Oh, and please pay no attention to the junk in my kitchen :/  haha

Enjoy!!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts #11: Clothespin Angels

Craft #11: Clothespin Angel

This is another great craft to do with children.  I made a variation of this angel when I was in kindergarten (lol...long time ago!) so I decided to show off this adorable, super easy craft with my blogger friends!

You will need:
1. Old fashioned clothespins
2. Sharpies (for face)
3. Scrapbook paper, tissue paper, or anything to construct the wings
4. beads and wire or pipe cleaners for a halo.

First, I took my plain clothespin and used a brown Sharpie to draw on some hair. You can use a number of things for the hair...cotton balls, yarn, doll hair, etc. Drawing it on was a quick method for me :)

Next, I used a sharpie to draw a face :) I made two differnt faces..one with and open mouth as if she's singing, and the other just smiling.

Third, I chose some cute scrapbook paper for my wings. I simply folded them accordian style and cut them down to size for my clothespin.

Now time to hot glue her wings to her back!

Finally, I strung some glass beads on a wire to make a small halo, which I hot glued on!

All done :)

Extremely simple project and kids really enjoy it...or at least I did when I was a kid :)

Enjoy!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} did you buy a christmas tree this year?
Yep :) and I love it! Fake trees are great for ornaments, but I love the live trees so much!!

{two} what is your favorite holiday tradition?
Well, this is technically my first year on my own, so I'll have to change my favorite holiday tradition a bit...but it's usually waking up on Christmas morning at my mom's and getting to exchange gifts with her and my younger sister before we do anything else :)  I love giving gifts SOO much!!

{three} do you open your gifts on christmas eve or christmas day?
We have always done both. We celebrate on Christmas Eve with my little sister's grandparents, but celebrate on Christmas day with my grandparents :)

{four} at what age did you stop believing in santa claus?
Haha, I don't even know...I think it was 4th or 5th grade.

{five} do you fill stockings?
Yes! With chocolates, an apple, a variety of nuts, and small gifts :)

{six} handmade presents or store bought presents?
I'm partial to hand-made gifts. Some people prefer store bought though. I like both, but I know how much pride goes into making something special for someone

{seven} do you have a favorite christmas meal?
Not really, just so long as I get my turkey!

{eight} is your christmas tree real or artificial?
real :)

{nine} what is your favorite christmas song?
oh gosh, I love so many! (it's all i'm listening to right now, haha) I guess one of Mariah Carey's..."All I want for Christmas Is You" is a good one. Oh and then there's a new fave this year by Dave Barnes "Meet Me Under the Mistletoe"....love it!!

{ten} did you send out christmas cards this year?
No...I didn't even try. I usually try to do cards, but never get them all sent out, so I end up wasting them! ...therefore I didn't waste my cards or my time this year. I may make a couple of special ones for the people I actually see on Christmas.

Now go link up at Leigh Ashley's!

Question of the Week: What material thing is on top of your holiday wish list?

A diamond ring. Hahaha, I WISH!! I know I'm not getting that though :(

:)   hmmm...the material thing at the top of my list is.....probably a sewing machine. But it would be SOOO handy to have!! I could do even more crafts, make a few of my own clothes, etc...

12 Days of Christmas Crafts #10: Wordle Pictures

Craft #10: Wordle Picture

This project tops the "Easy" list!!

Just go to http://www.wordle.net/ and make your own! (Or you can use mine.) It's so simple though!
Type in as many words as you would like to make up your wordle...if you want the word bigger, simply type that word more often. (i.e...I typed Christmas about 4x's and other words only once for their size).

Just print it out and frame it!

I made one of these for my friend's baby shower. Lol, of course not Christmas words...it had everything to do with baby boys :)

Anywho, Enjoy!!

12 Days of Christmas Crafts #9: Tile Coasters

Craft #9: Tile Coasters

These turned out so stinkin' cute!! I saw tile coasters done here....and somewhere else, but I can't remember where...but, I thought it was a super idea and HAD to make some!

These I gave to my friend Jenna for Christmas :)

(Here is a better pic of the design!)

Supplies:

1. Tiles (only $.16 a piece at Home Depot)
2. Scrapbook paper of your choice (I used two different ones for these)
3. Modge Podge
4. Sealer (waterproof)

First, I measured my tile so I would know what size to cut my scrapbook paper. The tiles were slightly larger than 4x4, so I cut my paper 4x4 inches so there would be about a centimeter of tile showing around the edges.

Second, I cut my Scrapbook paper to size.

My squares :)

Third, I used a glue stick to glue my papers together.

Fourth, I used the Modge Podge to glue the paper to the tile.

For one tile, I tried gluing my bottom piece of paper to the tile first, then glueing my top piece. Either way worked fine for me.

Fifth, I coated the entire top of the tile about 3 times with Modge Podge. (Let dry between each coat)

Next, after they were dry, I sprayed the sealer over them to make them water proof.

Finally, I added these little babies to the bottoms of my tiles so they wouldn't scratch any tables.

I'm proud of these coasters!
She loved them, so that makes me happy too!

Enjoy!!
