Halloween Bats

Hellloooooo :)

I am still working on my Halloween decorations, but I added to my outside decor and wanted to share it with you!

To make these, all you need is stiff black felt (I bought mine from Michael's craft store for less than $1 apiece) and some scissors. Fold the felt in half and cut out half the body and a full wing...once it's completely cut out, there will be a full body with both wings! You can either draw your own bat stencil or find one from an online source. I used a template from Country Living for my 2 large bats at the top and cut all others free hand :)

I saw this done at Country Living ....so check it out! I obviously need to add more bats haha, b/c looking back at the link, I have a tiny bat family!! I like the overall effect though :)

Simple, homemade crafts!

Here are a couple more pictures of my door with my bats :]

Hope you enjoy!

Halloween!!

Yay! It's FINALLY October and I can start my Halloween decorating!! I finished my first craft for halloween too :)

I really wanted a candelabra but I wanted to spend as little as possible!! I saw a really cute one at Hobby Lobby that was on sale for $11, but... I wanted cheaper! Ha...so I went to the Goodwill to find one!

Here is my Halloween candelabra :)

I bought the white candles and melted a red one over it for the "blood" effect. They were from walmart...can't remember the price..cheap though :)
The spiders I also got from walmart for $2..a pack of 8.
The "web" came from the dollar store.
And my candelabra was 1.91 at Goodwill!

The candelabra was originally gold, but I forgot to take a picture before I got started...so here is a picture after I primed it...

I already bought the spiders and web, and I would have had to buy the candles even if I bought the candelabra from Hobby Lobby, so for the candelabra alone, it only cost me about $4 :) ($1 each for primer and black spray paint)

I am Pleased!
...and I can't wait to post more pictures of my Halloween decorations :D

Fall Wreath

Hello! I know it has been TOO LONG since I last blogged! Ha...and that cake I mentioned in my last post...too embarrassing to post pictures! I'm not giving up though...just haven't had time to redeem myself.

Anywho...on to business...well, fun stuff :D

I came across this super cute and inexpensive wreath on another blog....

....and being that I am still in the first year of my first home, I have NO decorations! So of course am going to make some!

I love wreaths, but I don't love the price tag. The wreath in the picture was made intirely out of dollar store items...exactly what I needed :)

SO...I went shopping!

I went to the dollar store and to Hobby Lobby to get my supplies:

Wreath - 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby = $3.00

Floral beads @HL = $2
Fake corn @HL = $3.98 (I "splurged" on this item!)

Garland and leaves from Dollar Store ($1 a piece =$5)

Okay, so I bought 2 strands of leaf garland that have some pumpkins and gourds on them and 3 different colors in the leave bundles.  I caught a deal on the nice wreath. What I like about it is that b/c of how it's made, it's OK to have areas of the natural wreath showing...don't have to worry about missing spots! I then got 2 of the cute twigs with the "berries" on them...and couldn't resist when i saw that adorable corn! So my project total actually came to about $14...would have been only $10 without the corn, haha!

BUT...one of the joys of making your own wreath is that you can add whatever you like to it!

I just used a low temperature hot glue gun to attach all my "Ingredients" ;)

...here we have the garland and berries attached...

....and my final product....
I LOVE IT!

...and here it is, hanging on my front door...a little crooked, but that's ok for now!

Now...I just need to add a few more leaves....  :)

Hopefully some of you will try this on your own! It was inexpensive, easy, and didn't take very long to make either!

Thanks for visiting!

Hello All! :)

My lovely mother is now a member of the blogger world! She hasn't posted much yet, but she will be posting all the cute jewelry she makes, so go check her out please! View her blog here, at Cheryl's Crafty Jewelry :)

Also...be on the lookout for my next post...I'm attempting (for the FIRST TIME EVER) to make a 3 tier topsy turvy cake with fondant for my sister's sweet sixteen birthday, and of course I will have to blog about my experience!

Modge Podge Kitchen Drawers :)

Well, I finally updated the drawers in my kitchen!

I moved into a new house back in December. The walls were red and a yellowish color (reminded me of McDonald's) and the cabinets were an off-white (from cigarette smoke i believe). Anywho...i painted the kitchen walls chocolate brown (yum!) and we repainted the cabinets white (bright white). My accent color for the brown is a bright green. Oh, also, the cabinets and drawers had these not so cute gold handles on them....so i replaced those as well!

We painted the cabinets back in January, but still had not painted the doors or the drawers....therefore our cabinets have been completely open. After coming across a new blog, Modge Podge Rocks, I decided I wanted to spruce up my cabinet drawers after painting them and before finally placing them in my new kitchen!

I went to my local craft store...Hobby Lobby to be exact :) ....and bought some scrapbook paper in my accent color and got to modge-podging!

Here are some before and after pictures of my drawers!

This is what the drawers looked like before they received the new paint job

The inside...eww :/

Michael helped me paint!

...so much better!

Here is the finished product!

We still have a long way to go with our kitchen remodeling, but at least the cabinets are all most done! We are hoping to get a new fridge, new stove and redo the floor tile, the counters and the backsplash. It will be such an improvement when we finish! I can't wait :D
