12 Days of Christmas Crafts #5: Ribbon Tree

Craft #5: Ribbon Christmas Tree

I am quite proud of this little gal :) I have her sitting atop my mantle. I came across a ribbon tree at Hobby Lobby, but did not want to pay what was on that price tag! Plus it looked super easy so I knew I could make it for much cheaper!

(The Ribbon Tree @ Hobby Lobby...see the price tag? $21.99 for that little guy!)
Supplies:

1. Construction paper or poster board
2. Ribbon in an assortment of colors (at least 3)
...(and your hot glue gun and some tape)

I already had a pack of construction paper and posterboard. I eventually decided to make a smaller tree using the construction paper, and I chose a color that matched one of my ribbons, in case any of it were to show through.

The ribbon I bought from Hobby Lobby for $1 per roll. I used three different colors, but decided to use similar designs on each.

The total cost of my project was $3 (for the ribbon) because I had everything else!

First, I rolled my piece of red construction paper into a cone shape and taped it.

Second, I cut off the excess paper at the bottom so it would sit upright.

Third, I measured out my ribbon into 3 inch pieces. I even began by gluing the ends together on some...lol, after I ran out of those pre-glued ones, I just began gluing each side of the strip as I went along.

Fourth...begin gluing your ribbon on!

Here is a pic when I was almost done!

I thought about buying one of those small star toppers they sell for mini trees...but then decided I didn't want to spend any extra money on my project. I decided to make a bow instead...just glued it on top :)

 ...here is my tree again!...

This past week I've seen other variations of this cute little tree around bloggy land. They are super easy, and really, really cute!! I can't wait to make another...this one looks kinda lonely, haha!

Enjoy!!
